About MapInfo TAB (TAB)

MapInfo Professional's native format — a bundle of .tab/.dat/.map/.id files.

Worth knowing: Keep the file bundle together (or zip it); one geometry type renders best.

About GeoPackage (GPKG)

The modern OGC standard — a single SQLite file holding many layers, vector and raster, with no size or field-name limits. The recommended successor to Shapefile.
